Home Sweet Home

Today is the day! We have finally set off on our adventure, our circumnavigation of Australia. Cool Change, our 43 foot yacht, will be our home for the foreseeable future. Still surreal, but I guess it will be our reality all too soon!

We delayed our departure due to the fires down the east coast of Australia. It’s been heartbreaking and horrifying watching the footage and hearing stories, and we didn’t want to add to any of the issues. Hopefully now we can be a somewhat helpful presence and spend money in local businesses – I have stocked the yacht pretty well, but no doubt Matt will need more beer.

Seriously though, our heart goes out to everyone affected and also to the incredibly brave firefighters and volunteers. Thank you. Life is incredibly short and you never know what it is going to throw at you. A big part of the reason for going on this trip is to make the most of every moment, experience all that I can, and not sweat the small stuff. Clichés , clichés, I know, but true. Oh, and not having to go to work every day is pretty cool too.

It’s been great taking lots of our friends and their kids out for a sail over the last couple of weeks. Thanks for coming, and I hope you can come visit somewhere more exciting too!
